We also like putting smiles on people’s faces outside of our dental clinic. And we believe that good healthcare is vital for any community. The Milton District Hospital is a community hospital that’s proudly served hundreds of thousands of people since it was founded in 1959. It offers services such as general medicine, obstetrics, intensive care, and a 24 hours emergency department.
Over the years, generous donations from private donors have helped Milton District Hospital purchase essential equipment. One of the premier fundraising events is called the Gift of Health Gala. Since its inception in 2009, it has helped raise over $2 million dollars for the Milton District Hospital.
This May, we were proud to be a part of the black-tie fundraising event at the Burlington Convention Centre. The funds were raised through a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, live music, silent and live auctions, games, and more. The attendees included the likes of the Mayor of Milton, Gordon Krantz, politician and businesswoman Hazel Mccallion, who served as the 5th mayor of Mississauga, and Parm Gill, the Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton.
Last year the event helped raise over $255,000 in net proceeds and everything suggests that this year’s event was also a resounding success.
There are several reasons why it’s important for you to take care of your oral hygiene. Oral care protects you against tooth and gum disease. If ignored, both diseases can grow worse and more painful. For example, left unrepaired, a small area of erosion on your tooth can lead to tooth loss. Likewise, if gum disease isn’t treated on time, it can result in bleeding gums, looser teeth, and gum recession.
Aside from lowering your chances of suffering from cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis or worse, by taking care of your oral health, you may lower your risk of developing heart disease, certain cancers, stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Good oral hygiene is also linked to stronger fertility and a healthier pregnancy.
With more attractive teeth and fresher breath, you’ll also feel happier and more confident. This can have a profound effect on your social and professional life. Imagine speaking more confidently at the office meeting while vying for a promotion or not hesitating when pursuing a new relationship.
Try these tips if you’re interested in smiling with more self-confidence:
1. Pay Attention to Oral Care at Home
To take care of your oral health, you should regularly brush your teeth twice a day with the correct technique. Regular use of dental floss and the occasional use of mouthwash can also help you clean your teeth and fight plague.
If you’re having trouble staying motivated then consider investing in flavored toothpaste, electronic toothbrushes, and oral care smartphone apps. Remember, good habits last if they’re developed early. If you have children, then you can help them develop good habits for life by leading by example.
Teach your little ones to brush and floss their teeth and make it a family event. Books and videos can help your children understand the importance of oral care in an entertaining way. Also, take them with you to dental appointments. At Dentistry on 7th, we love treating younger clients and have many facilities to help them feel comfortable. By developing a good relationship with a capable and warm family dentist, you can help reduce the anxiety associated with dental appointments for children.
You and your family will also be amazed by some of the exciting technology we have at Dentistry on 7th. These advances in dentistry help us treat you more efficiently and with less discomfort to you. Here is what Dr. Raju Sarna, has to say about laser dentistry technology: “It is one of the least invasive, most effective tools that dentists have at their disposal.”
2. Consider Visiting an Orthodontist
An orthodontist is a dentist who has specialized in correcting bites and the straightness of teeth. Correcting orthodontic issues can greatly improve your oral health. At Dentistry on 7th we recommend orthodontic services to anyone with the following problems, especially younger clients:
- Overbite: This is when your upper teeth are too far forward.
- Underbite: This is when your lower teeth are too far forward.
- Crowding: This is when there are too many teeth in one area.
- Crossbite: This is when the upper teeth don’t come down correctly in front of the lower teeth.
- Spacing: This is when there are gaps between teeth.
Because the jaws of younger people are still growing, orthodontic treatment is more effective for them. However, people of any age can see an orthodontist. Invisalign® is a favourite among our clients for straightening teeth. Unlike traditional metal brackets, this clear aligner is less unsightly and less intrusive.
3. Consider Cosmetic Dentistry
While many of our clients at Dentistry on 7th are recognizable personalities, it’s a misconception that cosmetic dentistry is only for celebrities. In fact, more working professionals visit us today to improve their smile and self-confidence.
At Dentistry on 7th we have cosmetic dentistry services for the whole family so that you can conveniently book sessions for the same day for everyone. Dr. Sarna has an artistic eye for dentistry and can optimize your smile with some subtle changes. With cosmetic dentistry, you can look better and have healthier teeth.
Here are some treatment options for cosmetic dentistry:
- Teeth Whitening can help whiten discoloured teeth. This treatment is quick, painless, and effective.
- Crowns are permanent casings that go over damaged or misshapen teeth. Not only do crowns improve your smile but they also strengthen your teeth.
- All-on-4 Implants can replace lost or damaged teeth. This option reduces pain and is long-lasting.
- Veneers are small pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the imperfect areas of your teeth. Used by the right dentist, they can greatly improve your smile.
- Composite fillings are better than their regular silver-mercury counterparts because they match your teeth better. Moreover, they’re believed to be safer.
These are some of the ways you can improve your smile and feel more confident. By taking care of your teeth at home and getting professional help from the highly skilled dentists at our clinic, you will quickly improve your smile.
